Front Desk:
YES!... And we want you!
We are a growing practice and try never to turn anyone away. Appointments are scheduled in advance in order to ensure little to no waiting. However, if you have an emergency there may be a small wait, but we will do our best to get you in as soon as possible. It is important for all patients to bring:
- a copy of their drivers license,
- a list of medications,
- any current dental insurance information,
- a means of payment to each appointment.
- expectations for a wonderful experience!

If you do not have pain and swelling, it is best to begin with a comprehensive exam and x-rays to gather data necessary to determine the best options for your specific needs in a written treatment plan. This will save you time and money in the long run. Your customized treatment plan will show estimated cost and will be reviewed with you.
If you have a dental emergency with pain or swelling, CALL EARLY in the day as soon as you notice a problem. We will do our best to help you as soon as we can.
Dental care cost varies. Even Ben Franklin knew “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
Those who choose to have regular, preventive dental care can do so WITHOUT INSURANCE for as little as $13/month! Most Americans blow more than that each day on soft drinks, junk food, cigarettes, manicures, eating out, cable tv, cell phone service, etc. Without teeth, those luxuries would not be nearly as enjoyable. Let's face it, it is all about priorities for most Americans. Patients who take advantage of regular, preventative dental care tend to have less dental disease such as cavities, gum disease, and occlusal disease and therefore less dental treatment. GO BEYOND! and let us help you smile again with confidence. Because we go BEYOND your dental needs, we will help you find a way.
Dental restorations are an investment in your health and can last from 15 years to a lifetime in a healthy environment. An unhealthy environment from bruxism (grinding/clinching teeth), using your teeth as tools, soft drink consumption, high sugar diet, dry mouth, or poor oral hygiene can shorten the life of any restoration. Those who postpone preventive dental care and find themselves in need of more treatment can choose to pay in full, pay in payments through CareCredit, or space treatment out over time. Regardless of your circumstances, do not be afraid of us judging you. Here at BEYOND DENTAL our mission is to IMPROVE LIVES. Again, we want to help you find a way. You are worth it!

NO... Dental insurance is NOT required to be seen here at Beyond Dental. Many of our patients do not have dental insurance and choose to have dental care worked into their annual budget or savings account plan. See my blog post “No Insurance… No problem!” on how to have excellent dental care and pay for it.
If you have dental insurance, we work with all dental insurance and are currently a preferred provider for BCBS of Alabama. Please:
- Simply bring your CURRENT insurance information and photo ID so we can do a complimentary benefits check when you come in.
- ALWAYS come prepared to pay. There are services and cost that may not be covered by your dental contract.
It is important to understand:
- That your dental insurance coverage is a contract between you and your employer;
- Every employer has different dental insurance coverage they offer their employees, therefore, coverage varies with each plan.
- That your employer may change that coverage from year to year making it very important to bring CURRENT insurance information with you each appointment.
- Many times, patients are not aware of "waiting periods" from 30 - 180 days.
- The insurance world is ever changing and can be as frustrating and time consuming, so please be patient, as we all work together.
- Some insurance payments come to our office and some go to the patient, depending on each individual coverage. They are all different.
- Here at BEYOND DENTAL we offer a complimentary benefits check BEFORE any treatment if you are totally dependent on insurance help.

Clinical:
Local anesthesia wears off differently with each person. Usually it is anywhere from one hour after your appointment to four hours after, depending on the type of anesthetic we had to use. Be careful not to chew until numbness is completely gone to prevent biting your lip, cheek, or tongue.
Healthy gums do not bleed when you brush or floss. Please call Beyond Dental to schedule an appointment if you find bleeding. Bleeding gums is a sign of gum disease which is the leading cause of tooth loss.
If you notice the edges of your enamel wearing down, flatting out, or chipping, this may lead to tooth fracture or dentin exposure, which many times can be prevented. Call Beyond Dental to schedule an appointment to let us evaluate your situation and discuss the causes and prevention of Bruxism and other forms of wear.
If you have recently had a new filling or restoration placed while being numb, you may not have been able to bite down properly when we checked your bite/occlusion during your appointment. Do not postpone, call TODAY 256-739-8600 to schedule an appointment. Most of the time, this situation only requires a slight, simple adjustment, and your tooth will feel better fast. If you ignore it, it may lead to deeper tooth pain, so please do not delay, call now.
If your tooth required a temporary crown or bridge, and becomes loose, or comes off, please call Beyond Dental to schedule an appointment to have it re-cemented. It is very important to wear the temporary crown at all times, to protect the tooth and ensure the crown being made will fit properly.
Do not take any medications with blood thinners such as Aspirin or Advil until 24 hours after extraction. The site may ooze blood and mix with your saliva giving the appearance of more bleeding. Pressure stops bleeding. Blood clotting is the beginning of the healing process. You should have had post op instructions and extra gauze to place on the extraction site when you left our office.
You had a blood clot forming in the extraction site when you were at our office and we want it to stay there without interruption. Therefore, do not swish, spit, smoke, drink through a straw, or anything else that could disturb the extraction site. 24 HOURS AFTER your extraction, you may gently brush your teeth and begin rinsing with warm-salt-water rinses 2-3 times per day. If you begin having pain a few days after your extraction, you may have lost the blood clot resulting in a dry socket, and need to have additional treatment. Please call Beyond Dental to schedule an appointment if you have any complications or questions.
